Shalla, The Edgy Intern - Shalla, who prefers not to publicly reveal her last name, was born in the bohemian Mass-achusetts town of Northampton, the child of one of the creators of the independant comic book become mutimedia and merchandise franchise Underage Assasin Cyber-Sloths and his wheelchair bound highschool sweetheart. Raised in an atmosphere where social and artistic freedom was encouraged by both parents and community, she developed a completely unrealistic perception of the brutal, senseless horrors of the cold, sickening reality of everyday life in a heartless, uncaring society ready to stamp out every spark of originality and free thought that you would ever dare to posess at a moments notice, cackling mercilessly all the while.
She would discover the truth soon enough, however, when she left the sleepy hippie hamlet for the city of Boston where she enrolled to study journalism at Emerson College, the city's most notable communications institution. There, her personality deteriorated to the state of hardened urban apathy and disregard for life that is the accepted norm within metropolitan confines and she began to allow a state of justifiable disgruntlement to slowly overcome the naive idealism of her interior. She supported herself by volunteering as a subject for various medical studies at local colleges and hospitals. During one such program, a supposed ten day study in sleep deprivation at the Bridgewater State Mental Intstutution she was mistakenly admitted and remained under the care of renegade scientist Gabriel Montefresco for over seven weeks as he attempted to brainwash her through the use of psychotropic medications into believing she was in love with him.
Luckily, there was another patient at the institution, there against his will for psychiatric evaluation, by the name of Ken Socrates who quickly assessed Shalla's situation and engineered her escape, sacrificing his own plans for gaining freedom so that the beleaguered girl could flee the clutches of the madman. Montefresco, aware of the power he was now up against, fled the hospital grounds in terror and is rumoured to have established an illegal practice somewhere in Eastern Europe.
When Ken was subsequently freed and returned to his position at the head of The Ken Socrates World News Organization he offered young Shalla an internship with the company where she could develop her skills and begin her transition from college to her chosen career which she quickly accepted. Known for a passionate work ethic and an eye for detail, her work at the organization has been exemplary in every sense and it is only her fragile psyche and wildly unpredictable mood swings that have prevented her from graduating from internship to a full staff position.
She has yet to be allowed to use anything but plastic cutlery by the cafeteria staff.
